Hi everyone! Just want to share how I make this cupcake cake dress!
This cake is simple, easy and perfect for girls birthdays, bridal showers, or any occasion! Its also great because you can customize it to any colors or designs!
Lets get started!
You will need:
- 27 cupcakes
- frosting that you can pipe with (I use buttercream)
- piping bag fitted with a Wilton 1M tip
- a rectangle cake board
- bling ribbon
- a rose or any decoration you want on the belt like a bow
First, you want to attach the cupcakes to the board with a little buttercream on the bottom of the cupcake. Make sure to set them up in the shape of the dress as seen in the picture below!
Then you want to pipe buttercream on the cupcake by starting in the center of the cupcake and going around in order to get the rose effect. You want to try to completely cover the cupcake and then some so that they look attached. If you need to, you can fill in any empty spaces with buttercream.
Next, you want to cut the bling belt to size and lay it across the waist. I used a 50/50 mix of fondant and
I used a 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpaste to make this rose. I made it using the wilton method which I learnt in a wilton sugar flower class at Micheals. You can use any kind of decoration in place of the rose, even something plastic if you clean it well.
And then you are done!
One last close up of my hand made rose! And did you notice the little specks in my buttercream? Those are vanilla beans! I use Nielsen Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste in anything that I want to have a big vanilla flavor! The stuff is amazing!!!
Absolutely stunning! So creative and not intimidating for a simple baker like myself. Thank you for sharing! Maybe I’ll try it for Ita’s birthday in a couple of weeks! I’ll let you know.
Thank You! Can’t wait to see!
